What
is Reiki?
Reiki
is a secular enlightenment system and healing
system. In the west, it is primarily taught as a healing system.
It allows you to heal self and others by laying on hands. It was
developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900's. Reiki is
very easy to learn and easy to use, and anyone can do it. Reiki
Healing is a process of being connected to the Reiki Energy
through an attunement or empowerment. Using reiki is simply a
matter of awareness of reiki and the expression of it is BEing
Reiki. Healing is done either hands on, or by distance work.
Reiki is pronounced "ray-key". The word "Reiki"
is made up of two separate kanji. "Rei", which means
Universal and "Ki" which is spirit, energy or life
force. The most common definition of reiki is therefore "universal
life energy". Some say that it is life force energy that
animates all life. This universal life energy is indescribable,
in all things, everywhere. In doin g and being reiki our
awareness of it in the moment is the expression of reiki in
healing, being, in whatever we are doing in that moment. The two
Kanji taken together can also mean enlightenment. They represent
the universal spirit coming together with our own.
How
Reiki Works
Reiki energy
exists
everywhere. In Reiki healing the therapist is a conduit or channel
sending Reiki
energy into the client. The energy will follow the energy lines in the
body to
the source of any imbalance or injury, even if that place is away from
the hand
position of the therapist.
Treatment description - Hands
on Treatment
There are a
number of hand
position methods, including a classic set, intuitive positioning and
distance
healing.
Reiki energy will
flow to
where it is needed, however for the therapeutic relaxation it induces,
and
because of efficiency in avoiding any energy blocks, the therapist will
often
place hands on a number of areas to ensure sufficient overall coverage.
Each
position is usually held for 3 to 5 minutes, more or
less. Trust the
therapists intuition.
Reiki
sessions are conducted with the
client fully clothed.
When
working around private areas the therapist
will
normally
hold their
hands about 3 to 5 inches above the area instead of directly on the
person.
The
Reiki will work, even if you do not believe in it.
There is no wrong way to do it.

What can Reiki help with?
Reiki
can have an amazing effect on a wide range of
psychical and emotional issues. British Law means that I can not
claim that Reiki "cures" anything (so as to prevent
consumers against medically unproven treatments). However
historically Reiki has been considered useful by clients in a
wide range of problems, from physical conditions such as ailments
and pain, to emotional issues causing upset and distress. Reiki
is a holistic therapy. It does not seek to treat just the problem
you present, but also the underlying cause. It helps to promote
balance and harmony in the body, helping the body and it's
natural energies to function in balance and self-heal.
Reiki with Crystal Healing
Reiki
combines well with crystal healing. Where used together, a combination
or layout of crystals is usually used. While the client is relaxing
with the crystal treatment, the therapist either sends Reiki locally,
or may use some limited hand positions.

We have City Centre
bases in Edinburgh and Glasgow and we are
considering expanding into other cities shortly.
We are complementary health practitioners,
not alternative health practitioners. This means that we work WITH the
medical profession. If you have an illness or injury, or if you are
going to embark on a new diet, fitness plan or if you have any
uninvestigated symptoms, you must consult your medical doctor.
In the first instance drop us an email or
use the feedback form to contact us. We can then advise whether we feel
we can appropriately assist you.
